And Blankets????
During a passionate discussion with my sister about orphan care....she pointed out that many would feel more motivated toward orphan care if they would actually try to picture their own babies in the position of orphans. Lying in a crib with no diaper, no blanket, and no one to hold them. No diaper, we've been working on....but what about no blanket? How easy is that. How many blankets do we moms accumulate over the course of raising our children and donate to Goodwill? I'm sure between my two sons, I have easily donated 30 blankets. So....this project may just turn into.....a Blankets, Bottles, and Bottoms project.

Making It Official
Bottom Blessings will soon be operating as a non-profit organization. We are excited about moving in this direction to better minister to the babies we are serving. In doing this, we are also planning to broaden our focus to include infant formula. We are looking forward to our next drive and also an ongoing collection we are calling the "Baby Bottle Boomerang".

Who We Are
To begin this blog project I wanted to let you know a little bit about who we are. The idea for Bottom Blessings has sprung from a need identified by a number of adoptive families after visiting orphanages in Ethiopia.
Last year a number of different efforts were started to raise money and collect diapers for Ethiopian babies after witnessing some very harsh truths in a number of orphanages. Adoptive parents were witnessing hard working, well intentioned, care-givers diaper babies with whatever means possible. Because of lack of options, they were using rags, plastic bags, and washing out and reusing disposable diapers.
The response to this need was quick and overwhelming. Donations from individuals and cloth diaper companies came pouring in. Within a month, thousands of cloth diapers and diaper covers were on their way back to Ethiopia with various families travelling to bring thier children home.
Two of the efforts to diaper these sweet babies have combined Bottom Blessings (a blog project by www.knowingnobounds.blogspot.com) and 1000 Diapers for Ethiopian Orphans (a facebook project) and will operate under the name Bottom Blessings. We are thrilled to be working with Envibum cloth diapers, (who have been a huge blessing in offering diaper covers at cost and matching our purchases with donations) and Knowing No Bounds who will be indentifying orphanages in need of diapers and distributing them.
Our first diaper drive will be Janurary 7th in celebration of Ethiopian Christmas. Details to follow:)
